The monthly close

What actually gets done

Bookkeeping is unglamorous and it is supposed to be. Here is the work that happens on your file, and how often.

Bank and credit card accounts reconciled to the statementMonthly
Income and expenses categorised to your chart of accountsMonthly
Receipts matched to transactions and filed digitallyMonthly
Profit & loss and balance sheet sent to youMonthly
Accounts receivable and payable kept currentMonthly
GST/HST tracked, with an estimate of what you owe or get backPer your period
PayrollAdd-on
Year-end package handed to your accountantAnnually
Scope is set in writing before the first month — you always know which of these rows are on your file. GST/HST filing and T4 slips are not offered; your accountant handles those.
Fees

No hidden fees, and no meter running

The complaint we hear most about bookkeepers is the invoice nobody saw coming. So here is how billing works, in plain terms.

Three packages, flat monthly

Pick the one that fits your volume. The rate is quoted up front and does not change unless your scope changes — in which case we requote first.

Payroll is an add-on

Priced on its own rather than folded into everyone's rate, so businesses without staff are not paying for something they do not use.

Behind? Hourly, quoted first

Catch-up on prior months is billed hourly and quoted before any of it starts, so it never gets buried inside your ongoing monthly rate.

Questions are not billable

Calling to ask what something means does not turn into a line item. If you are afraid to ask your bookkeeper a question, you have the wrong bookkeeper.

Leave whenever

No lock-in. If you go elsewhere, your files and records are exported and handed over — they are yours.

Getting started

Three steps to hand it over

STEP 01

A conversation

You tell us what you run, roughly how many transactions a month, and how far behind you are — honestly. Nothing here is a surprise to a bookkeeper.

STEP 02

A written quote

A flat monthly rate and a written list of exactly which work is included. Catch-up work, if you need it, is quoted as its own line.

STEP 03

We take it from there

You get read-only access set up, hand over statements and receipts, and from then on your statements arrive every month.

Stop guessing at your numbers.

Tell us what shape your books are in. No judgement — behind is the normal starting point.
